What is IGQE?

The International Go Qualification Examination (IGQE) is divided into 19 levels, covering four stages from beginner to expert: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Mastery. These four stages provide a clear learning path for Go learners, helping them better understand their Go skill level and set appropriate learning goals.

Mastery (G1~G5)

Elite Among Go Enthusiasts

You possess comprehensive Go skills with no significant weaknesses. Now you’re embarking on a competitive journey, exploring the mysteries of Go. Stay calm and focused under pressure, and keep challenging yourself to achieve greatness.
Advanced (G6~G10)

Go - A Lifelong Companion

Keep refining your opening, mid-game, and endgame skills. Enjoy the tactical thinking process and gradually grasp the subtleties of master-level play. Even if you pause your practice now, you won’t easily regress!
Intermediate (G11~G15)

Explore Go’s Global Perspective

Grasp the concepts of opening, mid-game, and endgame, and explore Go's global perspective. On the 19x19 board, confidently place your stones and enjoy the game.
Beginner (G16~G19)

Master Basic Skills, Improve Practical Application

Understand the basic rules of Go and solve most basic puzzles correctly. You can complete small board games and enjoy capturing stones, but may feel a bit confused on a 19x19 board.
